Mhada started the sale of forms for Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) lottery scheme for 3,449 flats in 2010. On the first day of Mhada lottery forms sale, Mhada sold 60,095 forms through the 75 branches of Saraswat Bank.
MHADA authorities were expecting the sale to increase by 10,000 forms on Saturday. Less forms were sold because they started Mhada lottery form sale on January 1.
Most of people were busy celebrating on December 31. By Monday, the sale of Mhada lottery forms 2010 is expected to cross 1 lakh a day. Mhada has printed 4.5 lakh forms and the total print order is 10 lakh forms.
The Mhada lottery 2010 will be held in March or April 2010.
This year, Mhada has given the contract for distribution of Mhada lottery forms 2010 to Saraswat Bank. Saraswat Bank is offering 6.5% of interest on the amount collected by Saraswat Bank as earnest money deposit. Saraswat Bank has 75 branches in Mumbai. The Saraswat Bank will collect forms till 6 pm.
The Mhada Lottery 2010 flats are located at Versova, Dahisar, Pratiksha Nagar (Sion), Mankhurd, Malwani and Malad. There are 2,762 Mhada flats for economically weaker sections (EWS), 235 Mhada flats for lower income groups (LIG), 134 Mhada flats for middle income groups (MIG) and 218 Mhada flats for higher income groups (HIG) in this lottery.
Even before home-seekers who did not win a flat in Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (MHADA) last lotterybegin hunting for homes, the civic body has come up with five new locations for its next lottery.
These are at Powai, Gorai, Magathane, Mankhurd and Turbhe-Mandalay, where approximately 4,000 new flats will be put on the block in the next four months.
On offer will be around 500 flats each in the higher income group (HIG) and middle income group (MIG), 1,800 new flats for the economically weaker sections (EWS) and 600 flats in the lower income group (LIG).
“Of these, 3,380 flats will be ready by November. This time, some shop spaces will also be allotted by the lottery,” a MHADA official said.
MHADA will also acquire new lottery softwarethat will eliminate doubts over the transparency and efficiency of the earlier software.
Questions were raised about the old software’s ability to pick application form numbers at random after it was noted that several winners who got flats under the lottery had filled forms bearing consecutive serial numbers.
Arjun Rampal picks up a sea-facing penthouse apartment in Bandra at a cool Rs 20 crore. The actor will move in with family next week.
Says a source close to Arjun, “His new place is a airy and spacious penthouse in Chand Terrace. It’s over 5,300 sq ft in size and has more than four bedrooms. It is sea-facing and has a great deal of sunlight coming in”. The deal was brokered a fortnight ago at nearly Rs 20 crore. Says his real estate agent, “Arjun was looking around for nearly six to seven months but couldn’t make up his mind. The penthouse was the place where his search ended.
Arjun and wife Mehr Jesia earlier resided with their two daughters, Mahikaa and Myraa at Ritu Apartments in Bandra. But now that their children are growing up, they need more space. Apart from their daughters, Arjun and Mehr have two dogs and four maids. Also Arjun’s mother comes to stay with them once in a while, so the couple needed a spacious apartment. The couple had been wanting a large place for over a year. Now, with Arjun’s successes last year, they felt it was time to buy a new place even if it meant that it was going to be extremely expensive.”
Arjun and Mehr have done the interior design and decoration of the penthouse on their own. Adds the source, “Mehr’s got good taste and has an eye for decoration. For the penthouse Arjun and Mehr picked up many home accessories from all over the world including one from their recent trip to New York en route to the Caribbean Islands for Arjun’s cousin’s wedding.
