FYJC admission - students must complete FYJC admission by Tuesday

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

FYJC Junior college admission - students who have failed to take their class 11th admission in allotted Junior college must do so by Tuesday. The first round of FYJC Junior college admission ended on Monday and thousands of students had failed to sign up in the college allotted to them, forcing the authorities to extend the process by a day. Students who have failed to pay their fees yet must do so by Tuesday or they may  be thrown out of the admission process.

According to data collated by the office of the deputy director (school education), of the 1.23 lakh Class X pass outs who were allotted a seat across junior colleges, only 67,000 students had paid their fees as of Monday, which was the original deadline. In other words, a whopping 56,000 students have failed to report to the college allotted to them.

With a large number of seats remaining vacant after the first round of admission, the state extended the deadline to 5 pm on Tuesday.  Several parents and students requested to extend the deadline. In the first round of admission, 1.23 lakh students were allotted a total of 1.55 lakh seats. Several students who were unsure of which discipline they wanted to pursue were allotted two seats, one in each of the two streams they had opted for. Students were then given ten days to pay the fees.

However, as Monday closed and principals tallied their books, they were aghast to find that hundreds of seats are yet be filled. Even popular colleges such as Podar and Ruparel had vacant seats in coveted streams.  In the science faculty, some of the premier institutes have not managed to fill up their seats-D G Ruparel College has 191 vacant seats, Ruia has around 200 and Sathaye College has about 180.

So all the students who have applied online for FYJC Class 11 Junior college admission mumbai, must pay their fees and complete FYJC admission process today!

FYJC admission – The second merit list will be published on July 24

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Students who submitted their forms online but were denied admissions to junior colleges because they failed to produce the correct certificates should not worry much. Colleges in the city have been asked to maintain a register of all the problems the students faced during admission.

This register will be forwarded to the deputy director of education and the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL), which is in charge of the online admission process.

The authorities will clarify all the doubts as fast as they can and take a decision on whether to consider those students who had submitted invalid certificates for admission.

Since many were unable to produce valid certificates, they have technically lost out on seats. However, since the state cannot let them remain without admissions, a solution is being worked upon. Some colleges have asked students to forward their problems in an application addressed directly to the MKCL while some are sending day-to-day reports.

Even though the rulebook for online admissions provided to the students by the deputy director of education’s office listed the documents to be submitted by students applying under special categories, many certificates provided were not valid.

The booklet even mentioned the valid authorities by which the certificates should be certified to be valid for students applying in constitutional or social reservations or sports or cultural quotas. Apart from the college registers, students can also submit their problems at the 25 complaint centers in the city.

Students who have by mistake added codes of a college that is far away from his/her residence can change the codes, by also sending an application. The second merit list will be published on July 24.(source : www.hindustantimes.com )

FYJC admission – second merit list - Seats available for the second admission list

Friday, July 17th, 2009

The confusion among students about the online admissions process to junior colleges after the first merit list was published has left thousands of seats vacant in the general category. This has brightened the chances of students in the second merit list. Only 1.55 lakh seats have been filled so far.

About 23,526 seats are vacant in the special categories. However, 23,000 students were allotted to colleges in both the streams they opted for and when they secure one seat, the rest will go vacant.

A lot of seats have also been left vacant after several students were denied admissions because they failed to produce the correct certificates.

For students to remain in the system for the second round, they must secure admissions in whichever college they have been allotted. 50 per cent of the total minority seats from various colleges in the city have also been added to the general pool of seats for the second list. FYJC admission - Top students opt for Junior Colleges in the neighbourhood

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Students especially toppers staying in the Mumbai suburbs are opting for Junior Colleges in their neighbourhood rather commuting to south Mumbai high-profile colleges.

Students who run after high-profile colleges even if they are situated far from their homes should take a hint from this year’s toppers who have opted for junior colleges in their neighbourhood. Toppers feel they might have got into any prominent college in Mumbai, but a colleges high profile will not necessarily help in maintaining the academic record. Choosing a college near home even if it’s not very well known will save the time of commuting. It will give them more time to study rather than being on the road.

While weighing their options, they should look for Faculty, past HSC results, good infrastructure, a conducive environment for learning, opportunities for sports and cultural activities , good faculty, progressive managements and, finally, a good alumni record. Travel time must not exceed an hour and-a-half per day.
