Shruti Hassan The newest bombshell!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Shruti Hassan, Kamal Hassan’s daughter, is the latest rage in Bollywood, and we all are eagerly awaiting her first flick, namely LUCK. Shruti Hassan looks good in the stills of the movie and has a serious demeanour about her that is a far cry from the frivolous looks of her mother, Sarika. Shruti however, has the good looks of her mother and the seriousness of her father, a good combination that will take her places.

Shruti debuts with a Soham Shah film, with a screenplay by none other than Renzil D’Silva. She stars with Danny Denzongpa, Imran Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Mithun Chakraborty. In the film, the main protagonist, Nicole, loses her only resort, her father, and turns to God for help and refuge. She is then helped by a friendly postman who alters the course of her life.

Shruti was formerly in a musical band and is used to all the attention that she garners for the film. Shruti, apparently, has performed some real action for the movie and is pinning all her hopes on her maiden release. Shruti, however, has had an earlier brush with stardom, having starred in her dad’s movie ‘ Hey Ram’ and has a few Southie flicks to her credit.

Shruti is young, dynamic and ready to taste success. And paired with Imran Khan, Amir’s nephew, Shruti brings some real meat into the role she plays. Here’s wishing you LUCK in your debut venture, Shruti and may you reach the heights your dad did.

We all hope your debut film rocks and you taste success, so what even if you’re already famous because of your band and the lovely music you belt out.

Salman not invited for Katrina’s Birthday

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

How could anybody forget the incident that threatened to split Bollywood down the middle with that other Khan, Aamir, doing his best and failing to patch up the prickly differences that cropped up and still exist between Sallu and SRK! Well, it’s birthday time again, and this year, the sensitive Katrina, who is under a lot of pressure already within and outside Bollywood, seems determined to make her party a happy, safe and stress-free occasion.

The actress is taking off for a rare, full-family reunion in London this July to coincide with her birthday on the 19th. Katrina, while not admitting that the idea is to keep out Salman, has confirmed that she is planning a family holiday in July. “I’ve been burning the midnight oil to make myself free for my family and I’m exhausted and stressed. I can’t wait to go home. Though I’ve met parts of my family on every visit, all of us eight siblings have not been together in nine years… can you believe it! I really want to do this,” said the actress.

She’s the middle sister among seven girls of the Kaif family and has always said it was a traumatic experience to wrench herself away from this family cocoon in London and make a career on her own in Mumbai. According to close friends, Katrina was petrified of the isolation in her adopted place of residence. That’s why when Salman’s family took her in their fold, she reciprocated their affection and remains eternally grateful to them.

Today, the fact that she wants to return home and rejoin her family on an occasion when Salman last year created major embarrassment to her, suggests Katrina’s trying hard to gently move away from her adopted family in Mumbai. She, of course, will be the last to admit this. To BT, the gorgeous actress just said, “I’m so looking forward to being with my sisters. My brother is also going to be in London for the first time in years with all of us sisters. It’s not a holiday for me. It’s a necessity. And nothing can stop me from making it happen.” (Source:TOI)

Shahrukh Khan: Bandra’s own blue-eyed boy.

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

How can you talk about Bandra and not mention SRK? I really wonder how I forgot to write about King Khan all this while. SRK is the best thing to have happened to Indian cinema. And he’s taken stardom to dizzy heights, what with his business sense, his IPL ventures, his reality shows and of course his movies. Not to mention his gadget fixation and his thirst for knowledge. I’ve been following SRK since his Fauji days and was he good? Here is an actor who not only looks good but acts well and has a high IQ. I believe he reads up like a sponge; he can really shake a leg and is really experimental and versatile. You don’t love people like SRK. You idolize them. SRK had meager beginnings and the heights he has achieved are enviable. Here is a superstar right after Amitabh Bachchan and not even in his mould. SRK is cast in his own mould and so many newbies are trying to match up to him. Shahid comes close, but will he deliver remains to be seen. Shahid has a messed up personal life, though.

SRK was awesome in Devdas and though many people dismissed Asoka, the quaint costumes and the earthy settings brought out the real actor in him. And teamed opposite Kareena, Asoka is SRK’s best movie till date. Actually, I haven’t missed a single of his movies. He is just as good in romantic movies as he is in socio-centric films like Swades. The friendly rivalry between Aamir Khan and SRK has really evolved into something good for the film industry. Both of them have excellent filmographies, even better physiques and some fantastic endorsements. SRK scores over character. He has, amazingly, stuck to his wife, all the time pepping up his co-heroines.

Chak De seems to be one of SRK’s best films so far. I don’t know why, but the fact that he’s so unsure of himself, makes him a better actor and an even better person. He is constantly improvising, but actually there is not much work left for him to do as far as perfection is concerned. I really look up to his wife Gauri who has stood by him and has been his rock. SRK is groovy, and deserves all the success he has worked so hard for. As for his negatives. Well, SRK has worked so hard on himself and his career that there are  very few things he has left undone. A perfect gentleman, thorough, professional and a doting father. SRK, leave something for us to do also.
