1) DIL CHAHTA HAI (2001) Here was an entirely new treatment to Hindi movie. The music by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy captured the pulse of the film with an amazing music.

2) LAGAAN (2001) Amir Khan gave flawless performance which was the USP of the movie. Every song in this film is beautifully written. Like the film, the music was also a big hit.

3) SAATHIYA (2002) A very powerful story and one of Rahman’s best music. Some of the tracks are  very unconventional compositions. With Rahmans music and Gulzar’s lyrics the end product is superb.

4) PARINEETA (2005) This Vidya Balan and Saif Ali Khan starer movie was a big hit in 2005. Shantanu Moitra, who also did the music for Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, did a wonderful job in Parineeta. Parineeta had some great lyrics. And the retro sound captured the 1960s era, in which the movie is set.

5) OMKARA (2006) A very powerful movie. From Rekha Bhardwaj and Sunidhi Chauhan’s voices to Gulzar’s lyrics and Vishal Bhardwaj’s music, this soundtrack is simply to die for.  The lyrics beautiful and the songs just take you in. Beedi was most like song.

6) RANG DE BASANTI (2006) Yet anothet Amir Khan hit Film. Rahman has done wonder and each song has a distinct character. Masti ki Pathshala song made the word “paathshala” so cool.  Rang de Basanti is the most important album of the decade.

7) TAARE ZAMEEN PAR (2007) Again Amir Khan at his best. Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy has made a simple and sweet music. The lyrics were beautiful and Shankar Mahadevan sings Maa flawlessly. There’s a simplicity to the songs, one that distils the thoughts behind them beautifully. You never get tired of the movie and the music.

Science fiction and witchcraft seem to be the order of the day as the top 10 grossing films turned out to be the best shows in science fiction. These were the top running and grossing films of 2009. Warner Brother’s Harry Potter and the Half blood Prince was the top earner in the category followed by 20^th Century Fox’s Ice Age, Dawn of the Dinosaurs.

The third film in the category of best motion picture turned out to be Paramount’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In this movie there is an epic struggle between super robots that are good and evil, and to reinforce the Christmas spirit, good triumphs over evil.

Columbia Picture’s 2012 harks back to the Mayan civilization that predicted the end of the world on December 12 2012. Up, from Disney came in next in the list, a delightful animation story that brings out the best in the audience.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon came in the fifth position of the best grosser in the US list of top 10 movies. Columbia Picture’s Angels and Demons was the next top grosser in the list, this being Dan Brown’s tale of missing links in the great Catholic backdrop of evil and wrongdoing.

Warner Brother’s Hangover came in next followed by Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian and Paramount’s Star Trek came in the last ten. Slumdog Millionaire was the best movie at the Golden Globes, followed by awards at the BAFTA film festival, the 81^st Academy Awards and the Writer’s Guild of America Awards. Some other notable releases of the year were Invictus, Brothers, Everybody’s Fine, Michael Jackson’s This is it, Amelia, Love Happens and Inglorious Basterds.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani

Release Date : November 6

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is the first film to release in November. It is a comedy starring Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif with Upen Patel,

Ranbir Kapoor (Prem Chopra)is in love with Katrina Kaif (Jenny) but she shows no interest in him. This forces Ranbir Kapoor to find ways to please her every possible way to win her heart. Well in this process he changes from the happy go lucky guy to a responsible guy.

Jail

Release Date : November 6

Jail is a Madhur Bhandarkar film starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mugdha Godse and Manoj Bajpai. Neil Nitin Mukesh (Parag Dixit) with his wife Mugdha Godse (Manasi) leads a peaceful life but ends up in jail due to ( No prices for guessing) unforeseen incidents and so the film is all about life in prison.

De Dana Dan

Release date : November 27

Another comedy by Priyadarshan and of course with his super hit comedy cast: Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal accompanied by Katrina Kaif, Neha Dhupia and Sameera Reddy.

Most of the film was shot in Singapore in a two month schedule. De Dana Dan also has some underwater sequences that could be a huge highlight.

Kurbaan

Release date : November 27

Produced by Karan Johar, pairs real life couple Saif Ali Khan Kareena Kapoor. The film is directed by Rensil D’Silva (He co-wrote Rang De Basanti).

The film is about the romance of Saif and Kareena against the backdrop of terrorism. Om Puri and Vivek Oberoi play other key roles in Kurbaan.
