CAT Exam | CAT 2009 | Online CAT Exam

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Taking CAT Online? Check your e-mail

Many Indian Institute of Management (IIM) aspirants taking the first online Common Admission Test (CAT) starting this Saturday have got e-mails in the last few days stating that their forms are incomplete.

Prometric Testing, the company entrusted with the job of conducting online applications and tests, has sent out the emails. A scrutiny of applications revealed that some candidates had omitted to fill in details like discipline and marks obtained in the Class 10 and 12 Board examinations and graduation.

On receiving the email from CAT.CandidateService@prometric.com, candidates have to visit iim.prometric.com and fill in the missing details, a company representative said, but declined to reveal the number of such incomplete forms.

The last minute e-mail has caused a flutter among students as it says that if the completed form is not sent by November 27, a day before the first test, they will not get a call for the interview or group discussions.

“I have filled everything.

Many of my friends are in the same situation. I have sent the same information again but what if they still say it is invalid,” said Mansi Nachane (22).

But there is nothing to worry, said Satish Deodhar of IIM-A, in-charge of admission process.

“The mail was sent to those who have not completed their forms.

Students only have to upload required information,” he said.

The CAT begins on November 28 and will be held over 10 days in two sessions per day. This is the first time the CAT is online and students are more anxious.

“What worries me is that what if students are so busy studying that they don’t check their mail or those who don’t have easy access to a computer might not even realise. They cannot do this four days before the exam,” said Parag Chitale, founder, CPLC, a coaching class.

A total of 241,582 candidates have registered for the examination this year.

In your Inbox………….

If you have gtot the mail. resend your application ensuring that you have filled all mandatory elements.

Store the e-mails of the admit card and confirmationsstating the information you have sent. Main elements to filled in are:

1.SSC Marks(%) & Board

2. HSC Marks(%) & stream

3. Graduation Marks & discipline

4.Choice of Interview centre for interview to one or all the IIMs.
