Maharashtra elections - Get Electoral Voter ID Card - about Form 6 / 7 / 8

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Maharashtra elections coming - Get  Electoral Voter ID Card - about Form 6 / 7 / 8 : If  you have missed out on voting in the last General National elections, ensure that you don’t miss out on voting in the 2009 Elections in Maharashtra.

The State Election Commission has initiated a commendable drive to issue your Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC), or simply Voter ID card, on the spot, by going to the local Election Registration Office (ERO).

While you are supposed to get a notification slip at your home with your name, ERO address and further details on how to get the EPIC, chances are you might have not got this slip.

If you belong to any of the constituencies, here’s the checklist for getting your Elector Photo Identity Card- EPIC.

Step 1. First , check if your name appears on the Electoral Rolls.  If not you can do this online. Go here and click on the “SEARCH ELECTORAL ROLLS” tab.

Step 2. If your name appears correctly on the rolls, then go to point 4 given below.

Steps 3. If there are any problems in your name then click on the relevant links to apply ONLINE.

Links are available to  to have your name included (Form 6) , to delete a name in the Rolls (Form 7), to modify your name (Form 8), to change your address (Form 8a)

Step 4. After your name is included on the rolls, you have to go to your local election office.

If you belong to the constituencies below, you can still get your Elector Photo Identity Card - EPIC. I’ve given the ERO address (same as in the third ad above) next to the constituency name and number. Just walk in to the ERO with proof of ID/residence (ideally a ration card, drivers license, passport), and you should get your Elector Photo Identity Card - EPIC at these EROs.

Mumbai suburban railways have introduced 4 new local train services last week on the newly inaugurated Dahanu-Panvel suburban line. Another 20 services, to be added when the Nerul-Turbhe suburban line opens in December, will benefit more than 75,000 passengers in Mumbai.

In the next 3 months (February 2009), work on the Dadar midtown railway terminus will be completed. The midtown terminus will cater to non-suburban trains first and then gradually to Mumbai’s local railway service. There are also proposals for two new suburban platforms at a cost of Rs.5 Crores at Dadar in Central Mumbai. The new platforms at Dadar Station will boost the capacity of this crowded station that gets millions of passengers from the Western Railways and Central Railways sections of the Mumbai Suburban service. This project along with Grand Road station expansion plan, will be submitted to the railway board in the next financial year.

There are also plan of two additional terminals at Andheri also as there is only one terminating platform there.

In the next 5 years Western Railways plans to have skywalks at all the major railway stations in Mumbai.
