The phone has two microphones, one on the front and one on the back, to enable noise cancellation to reduce background noise during phone conversations. A standard 3.5 mm headphone jack is also provided.

The Google phone features a 1 GHz Qualcomm 8250 processor, 512 MB of RAM, a 4 GB microSD card, 512 MB of internal Flash storage, a 5MP auto-focus camera with LED flash and digital zoom, GPS receiver, light and proximity sensors, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and 802.11b/g/n Wifi capabilities. The GSM radio frequencies covered are 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 along with UMTS frequency bands 1 (2100 MHz), 4 (1700 MHz), and 8 (900 MHz).

What do experts say about Google Phone, Nexus One?

“I like very much the way social-networking information, including status messages, is integrated into the contacts app. One tap on a person’s picture in Contacts lets you quickly choose whether to call, email or message her, or map her address—all without opening the contact card itself. I also liked the pictures and videos I was able to take with the five-megapixel camera and flash, which I preferred to my iPhone’s camera. You can even view a photo slideshow or listen to music when the phone is in the optional desktop dock.”
Walt Mossberg, All Things Digital

Tim O’Reilly, O’Reilly Radar

“Android, including the new 2.1 version, isn’t as smooth as the iPhone. One needs to make more of an effort on the Google Phone to get things done. I guess you can blame that on the lack of multitouch features. Now don’t get me wrong — Android 2.1 running on Nexus One is pretty darn good. Just not as good as an iPhone. It feels somehow disjointed – much like all the other Android phones. When you install non-Google applications, they don’t quite have the tight integration of Google-based apps. Of course, that’s the downside of an open platform, one not entirely controlled by a single entity.”
Om Malik, GigaOM

“Finally, the Nexus just doesn’t attain the iPhone’s fit and finish. The buttons under the screen (Back, Menu, Home, Search) are balky, often ignoring your finger-presses completely. One of the animated wallpapers freezes the phone with a message that says: “Sorry! The application Android Live Wallpapers has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.” (Note to Google: I did. The same thing happened.) But maybe it doesn’t matter if the Nexus One isn’t nirvana. Google says it’s only the first Google phone of many, with one store to sell them all.”
David Pogue, New York Times

“The noise cancellation feature is particularly useful. The device has a second microphone on the back that monitors inbound noise and automatically cancels it out (anyone who’s used Bose noise cancellation headphones on a long flight will appreciate this). It does a great job of canceling out machinery and wind noise on the other end of the call. In my testing, call recipients noticed a substantial increase in call quality on this phone v. either the Droid of the iPhone. Look for other phones to quickly add this feature, it’s a must have.”
Michael Arrington, TechCrunch

Nokia N82 Review and Pictures

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

Nokia N82 is one of the latest mobile phone from Nokia.  The Nokia N82 resembles the N95 in terms of features. In terms of design, you will see from the picture that the Nokia N82 is NOT at all similar to Nokia N95.

In terms of design, in fact, the N82 looks very different from the N95, which is a good move by Nokia. The biggest difference between the N82 and the N95 is that the latter is a slider-phone, while the N82 is a candy-bar model or a box type model. So users who did not like the N95 due to its shape may now have a reason to pick up the N82. One of the main concerns was that the sliding mechanism may loosen over time or even break into given the number of times we all drop our phones.

The Nokia N82 is good comfortable sized Nokia Phone and the even weight distribution means we don’t have to worry about the phone slipping out of our hands. The Nokia N82 has a couple of problems. First are the alphanumeric keys. The keys are just too small and the only consolation is that the keys are relatively well-spaced-out, so it’s a whole lot better than the ones on the Sony Ericsson W880i. Still on the issue of the buttons, even though each of the softkeys shares the same button with a secondary function, it wasn’t easy hitting the wrong key. That said, its is normally better that the functions to be separate. The shortcut carousel button of the Nokia N82 is also not easy to use between the right softkey and the correction function. The dedicated Gallery button on the right edge of the phone could have been used for that purpose of a gallery key. Another issue is that the camera module is at the back of the phone. Nokia has opted for a mechanical lens cover which is great for protecting the lens. Sliding down the cover activates the shooter. This time round, the 3.5mm audio port is on the top edge of the handset instead of at the side. This lets us plug our earphones from the top, so there won’t be anything protruding from the sides when the phone is in our pockets. Elsewhere, the microUSB port, microSD expansion card slot and charging connection are found on the left edge, while a pair of stereo speakers, camera shutter, gallery key and volume controls lie on the right.

There are a few upgrades in the new Nokia N95 8GB that make it a significantly better mobile phone than its predecessor the Nokia N95. Nokia’s N95 is a smartphone produced by Nokia. The N95’s key functions include those of a camera phone and portable media player, in addition to offering e-mail, web browsing, local Wi-Fi connectivity and text messaging. The Nokia N95 8GB has a larger screen than the original N95 and viewing content on the N95 8GB is a great experience, particularly watching videos and browsing the Web. The navigation keys at the bottom of the screen, although smaller, are easier to press. The screen on the N95 8GB is significantly larger than the original N95’s. At the back of the N95 8GB, the camera cover has been removed. Not having a cover means you no longer have to worry about the camera accidentally being activated in your pocket. The N95 8GB’s biggest improvement over its predecessor is, the 8GB of on-board storage for music and photos. The extra storage makes Nokia N95 8GB a useful multimedia mammoth and lets you install many more applications.

Unfortunately, the Nokia N95 8GB(Click here for Nokia N96) of on-board memory is non-expandable, which has its limitations. The main issue is that unlike a removable memory card, you have to use the USB cable and can’t use a card reader.

HTC’s G1 is the first phone with the new Android software created by a Google. In India G1 is expected to hit stores in early 2009 and the G1 has been a hit model in the USA. The HTC G1 has a large 3.2-inch colour touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels. Weighing 158 grams, the phone is similar in size to 3G iPhone, just a little heavier than the iPhone. The HTC G1 comes in three colours, black, white and brown. The G1 phone’s large colour touchscreen slides out to expose a full keyboard. Google’s G1 offers a host of multimedia features. The G1 phone has a trackball for navigation, high-speed Internet browsing, WiFi, email, instant messaging and SMS.This phone functions on 3G networks soon to be launched in India. It also has GPS, a 3 megapixel camera with photo-sharing capability and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Iphone dimentions August 2008 saw the launch of next-generation Apple iPhone, the Apple 3G iPhone. The Apple iPhone 3G got fantastic reviews for its unique design, touchscreen interface and other features, though many did not like it because it did not have some common features like higher megapixel camera, flash support, message forwarding and MMS capability. Whatever may be the reviews, the Apple iPhone 3G will remain in our list of phones to buy for some time to come. So if you are planning to change your phone, this is a good option.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Sony Xperia is a pure eye candy from Sony. the Xperia comes with a black or silver metal-and-plastic body, a 3-inch touch screen and slightly curved QWERTY keyboard that slides out smoothly with a click. The X1 has minimal included memory and users will need a sizable microSD card to access lots of songs, videos and photos on it. There are 11 buttons on the X1’s front, including a center button that can select items or work as an optical joystick, which scrolls with a finger swipe. The X1 uses Windows Mobile 6.1 as its operating system, but Sony Ericsson developed a variety of customised enhancements that run on top of it. There’s a built-in 3.2 megapixel camera that can also be used for videos.

Nokia N 97 Keyboard Imagen97 imageNokia N97 is maybe one of the most exciting mobile phones Nokia has launched in a long time. Nokia is looking to take on HTC, Apple, Sony Ericsson and the others with this next generation phone Nokia N97. The specifications are truly amazing, starting off with a 3.5in touch screen with 640×360 (16:9) resolution, a slide out QWERTY keyboard, a 5 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, HSDPA, 32GB of built in flash memory, a microSD card slot, FM-radio, and a 3.5mm headphone jack which doubles up as TV-out socket. The Nokia N97 won’t be out until sometime in the first half of 2009, so it seems like Nokia will make us wait for this. Click here for Nokia N96.

HTC Touch Diamond, launched in May 2008, is the company’s fourth touchscreen launch in India, after HTC Touch, HTC Dual and HTC Cruise. HTC Diamond is probably an iPhone wannabe that offers the new 3D touch interface called TouchFLO 3D, which provides animated access to messaging, email, photos, music, weather and other features. Measuring 102 x 51 x 11.33mm, Touch Diamond operates on WCDMA/HSPA (900/2100MHz) networks, capable of boosting mobile Internet speed up to 7.3 Mbps (but who gets such speeds in India?). Key features of the HTC Diamond include, a 2.8 inch VGA touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera with an optical auto-focus lens, video calling capability and comes with 4GB of internal storage with 256MB flash and 192MB RAM. Click here for more touch screen phones.

Besides these mobile phones you might also want to consider the Nokias popular E71 mobile phone, Motorola Razr 2 V8 is also a nice and popular mobile phone in India, Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone W760i is the best walkman mobile phone that Sony Ericsson has produced yet, Samsungs new touch srceen mobile phone called Samsung Omnia also can be considered and lastly the much awaited mobile phone is the Nokia 5800 xpress music phone.
