Job Description of the Royal Bank Of Scotland (RBS) Job :
•The main Management Information tool within the GBM division is Khalix provided by Longview Solutions.
•The application consists of an 8 dimensional database with multiple views of accounting, project and headcount information.
•A high degree of automation surrounds the application to service a global user base of approximately 1,500 users. Due to the considerable management focus on the application and increasingly demanding reporting requirements, further analysis, development and support is required from a Technology perspective to deliver ongoing change. In addition to core GBM requests, there is a requirement to deliver change to meet central group reporting needs. There is a strong working relationship between the user base, business support and technology (including the vendor).
•The Finance Technology department is responsible for all support and change related activity within the Finance business division
•The successful candidate will join the team responsible for supporting the GBM Finance IT systems. The team is primarily responsible for answering user queries, investigating issues, automation and creation of support tools, delivering short term business aligned projects, applying data changes, monitoring processes, issuing status reports, managing incidents, documenting procedures, etc.
•The role typically involves - Support the MI production environment. -
•Co-ordination of issue diagnosis and resolution. -
•Work with business support and technical experts as required to deliver work to time and budget.
•Escalate as appropriate to team lead/programme manager.
•Experience supporting production services within an investment bank.
•Database experience (Oracle 9i/10g/11g)
•PL/SQL, SQL -
•Windows Scripting (vbs/wsh), Perl, shell scripting -
•Oracle Application Express (APEX) Experience - 4+ years
•Management reporting concepts (Balance Sheet, P&L, Costs, Budgeting, Forecasting). · Investment Banking knowledge · Experience of OLAP multi-dimensional data models -
•Longview Khalix, Hyperion Essbase, IBM TM1, INEA
•Ability to work as part of a Global Delivery Team with emphasis on teams in different geographical locations.
•Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
•Be able to adapt delivery style and language to suit the audience.
•Able to present complex issues and solutions to mixed audiences, where necessary resolving conflict and complexity by delivering practical solutions. -
•Ability to work well in a dynamic environment and multi-task (short delivery timescales; an evolutionary business with changing requirements and priorities; interaction with business users and other technology teams etc.). -
•Strong personal ownership and commitment to quality. Willing to contribute and speak up with a view or opinion, and add value by questioning and probing where necessary to ensure a thorough and robust solution at each stage in Application Support. -
•Commitment to the business users and self-motivation to take ownership of issues and initiatives.
