Mazagon Dock Limited invites applications from eligible SC/ST/OBC ( Non creamy Layer) & General candidates for walk-in Interview for appointment on Contract Basis for maximum period of two years for the post of Draughtsman, Security Sepoy and operatives in the following trades/categories in Skilled Grade-I / Semi Skilled Grade-I for the jobs mentioned against each:
Draughtsman (Loftsman)-Posts-10

Qualification :
The candidate must have passed SSC or equivalent examination conducted by a Board recognized by the Government and the National Apprenticeship Certificate Examination in the trades of :” Draughtsman (Loftsman), Structural Fitter, Electronic Mechanic , Electrician, Fitter and Machinist” conducted by NCVT of the Directorate General of Employment & Training , Ministry of Labour Government of India.

Security Sepoy (unfilled)-Posts-28

Qualfication :

Minimum SSC passed or equivalent examination conducted by a Board recognised by the Government.
Ex -servicemen having served in Army/Navy/Air Force or ex-Police/Para Military Forces.
Minimum experience of 15 years.
Conversant with Security Duties.
Computer Literacy preferable.
Knowledge of Marathi language, local customs and topography is essential.
Conversant with functioning of State/Central Security Agencies for collection of information/Intelligence service.

Structural Fabricators-Posts-98

Qualification :

The candidate must have passed NAC in Structural Fabricator trade qualification in the respective trade. However, the Candidates who have passed NAC in different trades but have worked as Structural Fabricator in Mazagon Dock Ltd on contract basis may also apply for the same. In case, if sufficient no of candidates are not available from the trade of Structural Fitter, candidates who have passed NAC in Sheet Metal discipline will be taken as Trainee Structural Fabricator for a period of 2 months. On completion of training the Trainee Structural fabricator will be trade tested and if they, qualify the test of Structural Fabricator, they will be appointed as Structural Fabricator on contract basis for the maximum period of 2 years including Training Period . If the candidate failed in the trade test, their services will be liable to be terminated forthwith . During the training period the Trainee Structural Fabricator will be paid stipend of Rs 5000/- (lump-sum) per month inclusive of all allowances.

Riggers-Posts-27

Qualification :

For the Post of Rigger, the candidate must have passed NAC in Rigger trade. Candidates who have passed NAC in different trade and worked as Rigger in Mazagon Dock Ltd on contract basis may also apply for the same. In case, if sufficient no of candidates are not available from the trade of Rigger, the candidates who have passed NAC in Fitter will be selected as Trainee Rigger for a period of 2 months. On completion of training period, the Trainee Rigger will have to undergo trade test and if they, qualify the trade test of Rigger, they will be appointed as Rigger on contract basis for the maximum period of 2 years (including training period) . If the candidate failed in the trade test, their services will be liable to be terminated forthwith. During the training period the Trainee Rigger will be paid stipend of Rs 5000/- (lump-sum) per month inclusive of all allowances. There will a common merit list for the post of Fitter & Trainee Rigger. The Candidate higher on merit will be selected as Fitter and those lower on merit will be selected as Trainee Rigger. The candidate must have passed VIIIth Std. and the National Apprenticeship Certificate examination in the trade of Rigger & Welder.

Electronic Crane Operator-Posts-10

Qualification :

The candidates who have passed NAC in Electrician trade and having two years of experience in MDL/Ship Building Industry as Electric Crane Operator may apply for the post of “Electric Crane Operator”. In case, we do not get candidate meeting above QR then candidates passed NAC in Electrician trade will be recruited as “Trainee Electric Crane Operator”. There will a common merit list for the post of Electrician & Trainee Electric Crane Operator. The Candidate higher on merit will be selected as Electrician and those lower on merit will be selected as Trainee Electric Crane Operator. The candidates selected as Trainee Electric Crane operator will be imparted four months on the job training. On completion of training the Trainee Electric Crane Operator will be trade tested and if they qualify the test of Electric Crane Operator they will be appointed as Electric Crane Operator on the basic pay of Rs.7500/- on contract basis for the maximum period of 2 yrs including the training period. During the training periods the Electric Crane Operator will be paid stipends of Rs.5000/-.

Compressor Attendant-Posts-3

Qualification :

The Compressor Attendant is not a designated trade under Apprenticeship Act. Those candidates who have passed NAC IN Millwright Mechanic/Mechanic Machine Tool Maintenance Trade and worked in MDL as Compressor Attendant will be considered for the post of “Compressor Attendant” directly. Other candidates having passed NAC in Millwright Mechanic/Mechanic Machine Tool Maintenance trade may also apply for the Trainee Compressor Attendant. The candidate selected as Trainee Compressor Attendant will be imparted 4 months on the job training. During the training period the Trainee Compressor Attendant will be paid stipend of Rs.5000/- (lumpsum) per month. On completion of training the Trainee Compressor Attendant will be trade tested and only on qualifying the test of Compressor Attendant they will be appointed as “Compressor Attendant” on the basic pay of Rs.7500/- per month on contract basis for the maximum period of two years including training period.

Utility Hand & Chipper -Posts-66

Qualification :
The Utility Hand & Chipper Grinder trade are not designated trade under Apprenticeship Act. The candidates having two years of experience in MDL/Ship Building Industry as Utility Hand & Chipper Grinder may apply for the post of Utility Hand & Chipper Grinder. In case, if we do not get sufficient candidates as Utility Hand & Chipper Grinder, the candidates having passed National Apprenticeship Certificate exam conducted by NCVT in the trade of Machinist/Motor Vehicle Body Builder/Tool & Die Maker/Motor Mechanic/Diesel Mechanic/Turner Mechanic Maintenance (Chemical Plant) and Instrumentation Mechanic may apply for the post of Chipper Grinder & Utility Hand. There will be a common merit list for the post of Utility Hand & Chipper Grinder. Candidates higher on merit will be selected as Utility Hand & those lower on merit will be selected as Trainee Chipper Grinder. The candidates selected as Trainee Chipper Grinder will be imparted two months on the job training. On completion of training the Trainee Chipper Grinder will be trade tested and if they qualify the test of Chipper Grinder they will be appointed as Chipper Grinder on the basic pay of Rs.6000/- per month on contract basis for the maximum period of 2 years including the training period. During the Training period the Chipper Grinder will be paid stipend of Rs.5000/- per month. There will be a common merit list of Utility Hand & Chipper Grinder and selection of candidates will be done in the following order Utility Hand, Chipper Grinder. No separate merit list for Machinist will be made.

Experience :

Work experience in the relevant trade/function in a Shipbuilding Company/Shipyard duly certified by their Personnel Department is highly desirable.

Age Limit :

The maximum age limit is 28 years & minimum not less than 18 yrs as on 01.05.2010 and for Security Sepoy the maximum age limit is 45 years (including age relaxation of Ex.Serviceman) as on 01.05.2010.

Relaxation :

Relaxation in upper age limit is 5 years for SC/ST candidates & 3 years for OBC candidates as per Rules.
Relaxation in upper age limit for the persons with disability is 10 years for general candidates, 15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC as per Govt. Rules.
The ex-trade apprentice of MDL will get age relaxation to the extent of their period of Apprenticeship Training in MDL as per Government directives.
The Ex-operative of MDL will get age relaxation to the extent of their period of contract in MDL

Pay and Allowances :

The candidates engaged on contract in Skilled Gr-I category will get basic pay of Rs.7500/- per month in the IDA Pay Scale in the first year and Rs.7575/- in the second year. Besides the basic pay, they will be entitled to get Industrial DA, HRA, Transport Subsidy, CPF etc. as per rules of the Company.
The candidates engaged on contract in Semi Skilled Gr-I category will get basic pay of Rs.6000/- per month in the IDA Pay Scale in the first year and Rs.6060/- in the second year. Besides the basic pay, they will be entitled to get the allowance as per rules of the Company.
Leave :
The appointees shall be entitled for 12 days Casual Leave only during the first year of contract. However, in the second year of the contract, they will be entitled to other types of leave as per rules of the Company.

Candidates claiming reservation under Persons With Disability category re required to produce Medical Certificate in pre4scribed format issued by the Competent Authority as stipulated in Persons With Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 having 40% or more disabilities in the category of OH/HH as the case may be.
Candidates serving in Government/Quasi Government offices, Public Sector Undertakings are instructed to submit their application through proper channel. The candidates not reporting on the said date will not be entertained on any other date.

General Information :
While applying for the post, the applicant must ensure that the particulars furnished by him/her are correct in all respect. In case it is detected at any tage of recruitment or even after the appointment on fixed period contract basis that he/she has furnished incorrect/false information or has suppressed any material fact, his/her candidature will stand cancelled/his/her services are liable to be terminated without compensation.
The candidates selected for appointment are required to work in different shifts on all working days and places at identified by the Company.
Only short-listed candidates will be called for the trade test. The candidates shall be required to pass the interview, to be considered eligible to appear for the Trade Test.
The Contract appointment for the maximum period of 2 years of selected candidates is subject to being declared medically fit by the Chief Medical officer of the Company as per required standard of health & as per prescribed rules.
The decision of the Company in all matters regarding the eligibility criteria, Trade Test, Interview, Selection procedures would be final and binding on all the candidates. No representation or correspondence will be entertained by Mazagon Dock Limite3d in this regard.
The Fixed Period contract appointee being on contractual appointment, at the end of contract shall have no right to get permanently absorbed in the Company. This being the essential condition of this Fixed Period contract
