Reality Shows on various TV channels | Laughter Ke Phatke | Dance India Dance | Music Ka Maha Muqabla
Star One - Laughter Ke Phatke
When : Monday to Friday, 10 pm
Cast: Jennifer Winget and others
This show is not really recommended. The show is very similar to Sony’s Comedy Circus. Each team of an actor and comedian is to create humour and also compete with other such teams. Sana and Alina Wadivala (Alina was a contestant on Bigg Boss 2) have to sit in a corner and laugh at every any random joke. Jennifer Winget is wasted in a show that’s avoidable.
Zee TV - Dance India Dance
When : Friday-Saturday, 9.30 pm
Cast: Three Choreographers, Mithun Chakraborty and Dancers
This dance competition has become tougher in its second season. Thanks god no one is insulted and sent back. Everyone is allowed to participate and the judges have to select the best out of these. Of course the best amongst the lot make it to the next round. The show has a lot of drama and is quite entertaining, the dancers are very good, judges are nice to all and has a cool host - Jay Bhanushali.
Star Plus - Music Ka Maha Muqabla
When : Saturday-Sunday, 9 pm
Cast: Six teams lead by six singers
Dont know if its a show or a concert. The format resembles a dance reality show that’s on air currently.
Six teams compete with each other in three different rounds. The contestants are mostly ex-contestants from sever other musical reality shows. The drama began with Mika Singh and Shaan fighting over small issues. Well its just about ok because the drama seems scripted and the host talks too much.
Sab TV - Sajan Re Jhooth Mat Bolo
When : 9 pm, Monday to Thursday
Cast: Sumeet Raghavan, Apara Mehta, Tiku Talsania and a host of other actors
This show reminds us of Hrishikesh Mukherji’s films which had lot of simple humour on the lie people speak. I wonder how such a plot will work today. Sumeet Raghavan works in a company where no one is allowed to speak a lie. Tiku Talsania, his boss, is very impressed with him and decides to marry his niece with him. The problem is Raghavan doesn’t have a family and has been lying about it all along. So a family had to be `arranged’ for.
The clothes are too jazzy and the show doesn’t really make you laugh except few moments. Sumeet Raghavan and Swapnil Joshi have done a good job and do their bit to make us laugh. Well you may watch and decide for yourself.
Sony Entertainment - Jeet Jayenge Hum
When : Time: 9.30 pm
Cast: Sana Sheikh, Akhilendra Mishra and a bangle factory
The story revolves around a bangle factory in Uttar Pradesh. Kids are bought from the local market and made to work as bonded labourers. It’s a realistic plot but the execution is poor. Some scenes like - children get sold in the mandi are difficult to digest. The family in this show is perfect and too good. It’s a very good attempt but could be better.
UTV Bindaas - Emotional Atyachar
When : Friday-Saturday, 7pm
Cast: Angad Bedi and cheating couples
You really cant make out if the cheating couples on the show are really a couple that broke off or actors.
This show makes an impact. The crew actually helps a girl discover, that her lover of four years was cheating on her all along. The spy camera footage plays a good role. The overall show is superb. Angad Bedi is a good host to have. The concept that helps a persons determine if his or her partner is cheating is a good idea. Liked the use of ’Emosanal Atyachaar’ from Dev D.
M TV - Splitsvilla 3
When : Saturday-Sunday, 7pm
Cast: Couples, singles and two hosts
Young couples fight against the man and woman snatchers on the other side. The whole concept is run-of the-mill with the same old fights. The language is quite abusive. But the location, Phuket, is good. Wonder if its really Phuket or Goa. The show can not keep you hooked to it.
