Therapy gone horribly wrong!
It was in newspaper few days back that a 34 year old lady from Australia met with an untimely death after an age regression therapy that left her psychotic. What was overtly dramatic was the way she ended her life, by stripping and jumping out of the window, in front of all her friends.
The report was shocking and belies all the terrible things that go on in the name of therapy and cure. Nowadays, even doctors are not doing their jobs of treating with sincerity, as a result of which, one has to resort to alternative methods of healing.
Why did the therapy go wrong with her? Do all such therapies like age regression, hypnotherapy, and other group therapies really work? The obvious answer is no. These therapies or group activities are just social contexts for people to mix and communicate the unrest that is going on their lives. I would certainly not like to be a part of such a group, as most people coming here would be really sick individuals. And the saddest part is that the people handling such groups are the most unqualified people to do so.
It takes years of study and practice to be able to guide a group, and unless you express some expertise yourself, you are certainly not qualified to deal with a group of people. Many of such leaders are ill equipped to solve people’s problems and end up compounding them, instead of sorting them out. A particularly crooked mental leader could also lead you to a series of events by which you are compelled to end your life too.
So, beware of such thought leaders.
I am personally against self help books also that promise all things romantic and idyllic. They paint a rosy picture of life, but the truth is that you have to work very hard to meet with success, either personal or professional and any short cuts of sure shot methods are just passing fads that need to be rejected.
