Anarkali / Mughal-e-Azam - legendary love story of Prince Salim, the son of Akbar with the court dancer Anarkali a commoner. When his father Emperor Akbar finds out, he is angry and does his best to finish the romance. He says a commoner could never be the empress of India. Salim, of course is an adamant son who rebelliously leads an army against his father but is defeated in the battle. Akbar sentences Anarkali to death. Anarkali is a bold girl and without any complains accepts death for her love. The comparisons of Anarkali with Mughal-e-Azam is inevitable.

Anarkali sees Bina Rai play the most famous role of her career, but always unfavourably compared with Madhubala’s finely modulated performance in Mughal-e-Azam.
