Manmohan Singh’s smart, extra smart, should we say! While the greatest democracy in the world is struggling with unemployment, corruption, recession, poverty and a sagging image, our very own Chanakya does the ultimate, he goes and meets with the adversaries of the US and comes back smiling! What a victory it has been! First the Indians scalp the Lankans and come out winners of test matches, and then, close to heel, is the news that Manmohan Singh’s Russia visit has brought on more accolades for the country.
So who needs an American partnership anymore? We’ve got the best nuclear deals, some amazing defence contracts and even better business deals with the believers of glasnost and perestroika.
Indira Gandhi must be one happy person, that despite the tragedy of the US, we still have a reason and budding relationships with the rest of the West. And if you go by the books, Russia is opening up its economy and its socialist regime is giving way to a better system of government, with reduced tariffs and an easier way to do business. Wish Raj Kapoor were alive, he would’ve made another movie out of our concrete friendship.
The Russians have always loved us more and now it shows. Vladimir Putin has been more than generous with his business and defence deals, as India is strongly looking as a power to reckon with in South East Asia. Congrats Mr Singh, may your diplomatic ways and smart maneuvers bring back the hey days of our country. But we must be wary as our Chinese, Lankan and Pakistani counterparts are all watching like eager beavers.
But with the leadership of Mr Singh with the sound support of his party workers, now nothing seems to be impossible!
