CAT Exam | On-line CAT Exam | Disastrous!
The online CAT started by the IIMs was a total failure, as the servers crashed and many students were left in the lurch. What happens when reforms like these backfire? What does Kapil Sibal, the education minister, with a head full of ideas to transform education, have to say about this?
So many students’ hopes were dashed and the lure of the IIMs seems to have dulled with this disaster, a technological calamity. So, India poised, soon will be India poisoned, with such rapid changes in technology that are ready to threaten the environment. So, another experiment in a mass proportion has failed and the IIMs are contemplating going back to the safe, but secure pen and paper mode of testing.
Really, these things should be taken a lot more seriously than they are. The servers crashing while the students are at the exam, speaks of an attitude of apathy and gross negligence on the part of the team that conducts the exam.
Can we, as a nation, get anything right? Can we put our personal biases behind us and work as a team, or is that too difficult to do? How is it that we find even the simplest tasks so huge and gigantic, that we shrink away from them?
In our race to be global leaders, we have forgotten the fact that the majority of the Indian populace is rural. Does an exam like the CAT provide equal benefits for the weaker sections of society, who are in real need of such changes?
The online CAT did turn out to be a damp squib, and who do we put to blame here?
Why is it that the brightest minds in our midst get snuffed out so easily? Why is it that despite the best preparation and planning, we still face failure? Aren’t we proving that we’re a nation of losers and street bumpkins?
