Swine flu, H1N1 testing status in Bhabha, Kasturba and other Mumbai hospitals

Swine flu, H1N1 testing status in various City Hospitals - Long queues and chaos at Kasturba Hospital, Chinchpokli, looked calmer after a week long chaos on Sunday. The queue of people wanting to test for H1N1, swine flu was comparatively smaller. People living in Byculla, Dadar and other nearby areas arrived for the test of swine flu, H1N1 virus.

BMC has opened 5 more centers for testing H1N1 or swine flu visrus in Mumbai so the load on Kasturba Hospital reduced. The pressure on Kasturba staff has eased. Kasturba taff members are seen wearing the high-tech N95 mask. The average waiting period for patients was half-an-hour on Sunday as compared to an hour on Saturday.

The news of the the death of a woman from Mumbai  who tested positive for swine flu, H1N1 virus, many people seemed paranoid. There were 735 turned up for testing H1N1 swine flu between 8 am and 3.30 pm on Sunday.

Bhabha Hospital, Bandra had a steady flow of people coming for checks from 8 am itself. Many well-to-do people from Khar, Bandra and Juhu came in cars with faces masked, others trooped in from the slums.

Siddhartha Hospital, Goregaon: Over 100 people queued up for screening, swabs of just 11 people were taken for tests till 3.30 pm. Many were turned away.

M T Agarwal Hospital, Mulund: The hospital sent home 72 of the 73 people it has screened since Saturday morning. It sent three patients’ swabs for testing.

Rajawadi Hospital, Ghatkopar: The hospital received 128 patients till 3.30 pm. While most complained that the queue was too long and the process moved slowly, others didn’t mind the wait as long as the possibility of swine flu was ruled out.

Bhagwati Hospital, Borivli: Large queues were seen at the gate and the hospital sent some samples to Haffkine.
