FYJC admission - students must complete FYJC admission by Tuesday
FYJC Junior college admission - students who have failed to take their class 11th admission in allotted Junior college must do so by Tuesday. The first round of FYJC Junior college admission ended on Monday and thousands of students had failed to sign up in the college allotted to them, forcing the authorities to extend the process by a day. Students who have failed to pay their fees yet must do so by Tuesday or they may be thrown out of the admission process.
According to data collated by the office of the deputy director (school education), of the 1.23 lakh Class X pass outs who were allotted a seat across junior colleges, only 67,000 students had paid their fees as of Monday, which was the original deadline. In other words, a whopping 56,000 students have failed to report to the college allotted to them.
With a large number of seats remaining vacant after the first round of admission, the state extended the deadline to 5 pm on Tuesday. Several parents and students requested to extend the deadline. In the first round of admission, 1.23 lakh students were allotted a total of 1.55 lakh seats. Several students who were unsure of which discipline they wanted to pursue were allotted two seats, one in each of the two streams they had opted for. Students were then given ten days to pay the fees.
However, as Monday closed and principals tallied their books, they were aghast to find that hundreds of seats are yet be filled. Even popular colleges such as Podar and Ruparel had vacant seats in coveted streams. In the science faculty, some of the premier institutes have not managed to fill up their seats-D G Ruparel College has 191 vacant seats, Ruia has around 200 and Sathaye College has about 180.
