Students especially toppers staying in the Mumbai suburbs are opting for Junior Colleges in their neighbourhood rather commuting to south Mumbai high-profile colleges.
Students who run after high-profile colleges even if they are situated far from their homes should take a hint from this year’s toppers who have opted for junior colleges in their neighbourhood. Toppers feel they might have got into any prominent college in Mumbai, but a colleges high profile will not necessarily help in maintaining the academic record. Choosing a college near home even if it’s not very well known will save the time of commuting. It will give them more time to study rather than being on the road.
While weighing their options, they should look for Faculty, past HSC results, good infrastructure, a conducive environment for learning, opportunities for sports and cultural activities , good faculty, progressive managements and, finally, a good alumni record. Travel time must not exceed an hour and-a-half per day.
