ATKT Admissions - ATKT students have enough admissions in Mumbai colleges

The Maharashtra government’s latest ATKT scheme will be beneficial for over two lakh SSC students across Maharashtra as those who have failed in either one or two subjects in their SSC board exams will be allowed to join Class XI. Many students and parents are wondering if  there will be enough junior college seats to accommodate them.

Well, the ATKT students and parents need not worry so much. There are over 2.77 lakh seats in FYJC in the Mumbai division (Mumbai, Thane and Raigad), and around 2.63 lakh students passed the exam from this region . There are nearly 1.5 lakh FYJC seats in Mumbai city itself, of which the maximum number comes from colleges located in the Western suburbs.

ATKT students opting for commerce will have an advantage. Those interested in pursuing commerce will have an advantage as there are more number of seats available than in science and arts put together.

The ATKT policy, may not have too much effect on the top colleges of Mumbai as the cut-offs are high and there are no vacant seats. So only in colleges that have vacancies that ATKT students who have failed one or two subjects will get an admission. They also will be given admission via the online system, after FYJC admissions for the rest of the students are completed.
