Govt Job Portal - Govt of India planning a Job Portal for Real Time Job Information on Govt Jobs
Govt Job Portal coming soon. Govt of India is planning to set up Government Job Portal.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee took the example of successful Job sites in India like Naukri.com and Monster.com and announced that the Government of India will be setting up a Job Portal for Government Jobs and will be the Governments job portals in India. The idea is to set up a national level job portal, which will allow job seekers to upload the resume (bio data and CV) and details of skills (i.e. their Resume / Bio data or CV) online. The Government departments on the other hand will be publishing available jobs to enable youth to get jobs in realtime basis in Government Jobs. This Government Job Portal will be a Public Private Partnership, and is a part of the modernisation of Employment Exchanges which currently provide Government Jobs and act as the old economy Government Job Portals.
It is strange that the Government is planning a Government of India Job Portal because currently they have a decent Job Portal www.employmentnews.gov.in which in its meta description mentions that it is the Govt of India site that provides government accounting jobs, government academics jobs, government aviation jobs, government administration jobs, government clerical jobs, government defense jobs, government engineering jobs, government technician jobs, government management jobs, government information technology jobs, government it jobs, government scientist jobs, government management jobs, civil service jobs, government pharma jobs, government nursing jobs, government law jobs, government media jobs, government medicine jobs, government medical jobs, employment news paper, employment news india.
So the question which needs to be answered by the Govt would be that would the current Govt Job Portal www.employmentnews.gov.in be upgraded to a real time state of the art job portal or will the Govt develop a new Govt of India Job Portal along with someone like a Naukri.com or Rediff.com?

Employment News, a weekly, published in English, Hindi and Urdu languages is the flagship publication of the Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India. The unit has been set up to bring out the above weekly journal, with a view to giving information about employment opportunities to the unemployed and under employed youth of the country and to help youngsters in making an informed choice about their careers. Initially set up in April 1976 under DAVP. Its control was transferred to the publications division in January 1978. The unit is located in R.K .Puram, New Delhi and is headed by a General Manager cum Chief Editor.
The weekly carries advertisement for job of Central, State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Bodies, universities, admission notices for professional courses, examination notices and results of organizations like UPSC, SSC and other general recruitment bodies and mid level career promotion opportunities (Deputation). In addition to this, there is also an Editorial segment, which carries articles relating to career opportunities. Also the Career Guidance series contains new and upcoming fields or professional activities with information on the employment prospects in the area, qualifications required to enter the profession and the institute to avail education and training.
The target groups of the weekly are basically the Civil Services aspirants, candidates appearing for competitive exams and interviews, young people on the threshold of taking decision on careers and professions. The mandate of the weekly is to inform and educate the young people so that they can make an informed decision about their Careers.
Unlike other units which figure in the overall budget of the Publications Division, the “Employment News” Unit has a separate budget of it’s own under a different head of account. Administrative and financial powers pertaining to this unit are exercised by the General manager on behalf of the Director, Publications Divisions, through special delegations made in his favour, as an internal arrangement.
It is pertinent to mention that besides fulfilling its social obligation for which the journal was started, Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar has been earning substantial profits regularly. The journal, which has earned the distinction of being one of the highest circulated weeklies, is available throughout the length and breath of the country on every Saturday. The online edition of Employment News www.emplomentnews.gov.in has managed to replicate the success of print version of Employment News and has established itself as one of the most successful govt. websites in a very short span.
