FYJC college admission - Blowing the brains out!

What is the State government up to? Why have 90% reservation for junior colleges for SSC students and what are the ICSE and CBSE students going to do? On the one hand you complain of brain drain and on the other hand you do nothing to keep your indigenous brains in tact. This is mindless apathy. This country is going to the dogs. There is anyway so much reservation in every college and school and even in work places that if you’re not an SC, ST, you can just not survive. This rule will make the life miserable for students coming out of elite schools. What if, despite being from ICSE schools, they can’t afford a foreign education? Where do such students of the mainstream go? If you’re making provisions for the downtrodden, why not make amends for the richer ones? Who’s making life any easier for them? At every hurdle it gets tougher and tougher till finally, the nut cracks! Why??? In a country that finds child labour illegal, students are studying 5-6 hours other than their college hours everyday! Isn’t that child labour?

The government is trying everything possible to appease the minorities and the poor and backward classes. But who’s going to look at the ones in the mainstream? It is just making life impossible for students who want to achieve something on merit. And since when did an elite education become a liability more than an asset? I think the education system in India is going from bad to worse and no one in power is doing anything to stem the rot. Ministers like Vikhe Patil et al are a really misinformed and misguided lot. Why should a student suffer for being rich and elitist?

I don’t agree with the misnomer that kids coming out from affluent families are good for nothing and don’t work hard. So, what are you going to do? Bring them to the streets so that they can empathize with their lesser counterparts? Or make them sit with beggars and bumpkins in the same class? What the hell is going on? You can survive in this country only if you derive sympathy. Has anybody thought about the damage having SC, ST colleagues and friends can do to young, impressionable minds? You can bring up the economically downtrodden, but why are you bringing down the economically upward mobile? These steps are making no sense as they are just emotional steps not based on any rationality. Everywhere I hear students saying, ‘I wish I had an SC certificate; life would be so much easier then.’ Why so much sympathy for the poor and so much hatred for the economically well off? I wish our ministers had more brains; life would be so much easier.
