Film review-Horton
‘Who’lesome entertainment!
All of those with me will certainly argue that Horton was the cutest animation created so far. For animation lovers this is certainly a rewarding experience. Horton, the lovable elephant, gets to hear a “Who” and goes all out to save the Who civilization from utter doom. And with it he endures all kinds of criticism and obstacles to emerge as the hero for the citizens of Who. Wish there were a super-hero like Horton in our midst too.
Horton, the huge, wise elephant is downright cute. He is fat, sings and dances and to the ridicule of everybody, starts hearing Whos from another planet altogether. Well, the script is certainly engaging and the scientific possibility that their might be civilizations other than ours, a revealing prophecy. So, all of other Horton’s lovable friends deride and warn him and evil vultures and kangaroos fight hard from Horton helping the Whos, but Horton, our hero braves them all and emerges victorious.
The animation in the film is just genius material. The music score, direction and voice-overs by Jim Carrey, Steve Carrell and the lot are simply hugely adorable. The screenplay writers Ken Duario and Cinco Paul deserve a special applause. The animation is an endearing, funny and creative adaptation of the tales of Horton. The forest comes alive with real, witty and clever characters who refuse to believe the story that Horton has to reveal. And Whosville characters like the Mayor and his family are exceptionally funny and well created. The narration by Charles Osgood is riveting and keeps you on the edge, waiting for more surprises to be thrown at you. Horton is a creative success and I must urge all youngsters and adults alike to view this funny movie.
The movie is a well-integrated film with all the ingredients of an entertaining saga coming to life. Twentieth Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios have certainly come up with a winner in this one!
