Tata Nano is here. Tata Motors commercially launched its people’s car, Tata Nano, promising to stick to the Rs 100,000 price tag for the base model. The Tata Nano will be priced between Rs 134,000 and Rs 185,000 (ex-showroom Mumbai), although Tata Nanos claim to fame was its Rs 100,000 tag. The bookings of Tata Nano will commence on April 9 and will go on till April 25.
The delivery of the first lot of Tata Nano cars will begin in early-July. Applications for booking of the Tata Nano car would be available in 30,000 locations in 1,000 cities across India. State Bank of India would be the qualified banker for collection of bookings in 850 cities. Tata Nano can be booked by just paying Rs 2,999 upfront while the rest can be secured by way of loan.
Nano would meet BS II, III and IV norms which are equivalent to Euro II, III and IV norms. The four-and-a-half metre car will be emitting less carbon than even two-wheelers and hence, Tata did not subscribe to the view that it would aggravate pollution. The 623 cc car would initially be available in three variants and can seat four persons comfortably and has the highest mileage of 26.6-kilometre per litre. The snub-nosed Tata Nano will be available in one standard and two deluxe versions including air-conditioning and power windows.
Process to book Tata Nano
1. Online Process to book Tata Nano
- The cost of the Online Form is Rs. 200/-.
- Fill out the application form online and proceed to make an online payment.
- Your application will then be directed to a third party payment gateway site
- You will then submit your payment through net banking.
- The amount to be paid is the Cost of Application Form plus the Booking Amount.
- The site will confirm your payment by generating a transaction ID.
- You will be then guided back to the Tata Nano website where a Unique Identification Number (UIN) will be generated.
- Booking will be now completed, you can take a print of receipt, an email is sent to you with the receipt.
2. Offline Process to book Tata Nano
- Buy an application form for Rs 300/- from any of the following locations. There will be an exclusive counter where you can purchase the application

The application form will have 3 copies (Applicant’s copy, the bank’s copy and TML’s copy) Please fill all of these copies before submitting it.

3. Submission of completed form for Tata Nano
Booking Forms with the booking amount can be submitted at any of the following locations:
- TML Passenger Car Dealerships
- Select SBI Branches
- All Croma Outlets
- All Westside Outlets
Please ensure all the following documents are submitted:
- Booking Form (TML, Bank and Customer�s Copies)
- Payment Instrument
- A Cancelled Cheque of the customer�s account in case refund is required through electronic means
- Photocopy of Photo Id Card
- Form 60/61 in absence of PAN card
The customer needs retain his copy (Customer�s copy) of the form duly stamped for future communication.
4. Payment Details for Tata Nano
Booking amount for NANO variants is as mentioned in the table below:

You can pay the booking amount using any of the following:
- Demand Draft
- Pay Order
- Cheque (should be a local Cheque)
It should be drawn in the name of “Tata Motors Ltd A/C Tata Nano”.
Make sure that the DD and Cheque have the following details on the back:
- Applicant Name
- UIN (Unique Identification Number)
- Contact Number

6. Allotment of Tata Nano
- Tata Motors would announce 1,00,000 successful applicants as allotees within 60 days of closing of booking window.
- 1,00,000 succesful applicants would be selected using the pseudo random number generation technique.
- The price of Tata Nano as announced on date of commercial launch (23rd March, 2009) would be applicable for all 1,00,000 allotees.
- You can check the status of your application by keying in your UIN on www.tatanano.com or by calling on the call center number 020-66495678.
- Allotees would receive an allotment letter which would also mention the expected period of delivery.
- A communication regarding the status of the application would be sent all applicants via SMS or email based on the contact details mentioned in the application form.
- Refund (without interest) to all unsuccesful applicants who have not opted to retain their booking with Tata Motors would be processed within 90 days of closing of booking window.
7. Delivery of Tata Nano
- Your delivery will be processed by the dealer selected by you in the application form.
- Your dealer will intimate you about the exact delivery date.
- Please arrange to make the balance payment to the dealer within 10 days of receiving the communication from the dealer.
- At the time of delivery please ensure that you produce the following documents.
- Allotment letter in original.
- Applicants copy of the application form.
- Identity proof as mentioned in the application form.
Please ensure:
Payment instrument is payable at the right place.
Amount on the payment instrument is right with respect to the variant selected on the Booking Form.
