Mhada has announced that they will provide more than 27,000 houses by March 2011 to Mumbaikars. 3,170 MHADA houses for the economically weaker sections would be ready by October and forms for the lottery would be sold from July. Another 12,172 houses would be ready for sale by March 2010. In March 2011, the agency would sell 12,400 houses. Mhada is constructing 6,000 houses on 11 old mill plots and another 6,000 flats as transit camps in Mumbai.
MHADA is obviously very happy with the response to its 688 high-end housing scheme at Versova, Mhada will now come up with 168 high-end houses at Powai. Projects are also coming up at Ashoknagar in Dahisar, New Shastrinagar and Siddharth Nagar in Goregaon, Mankhurd and Chandivli. So while there is a continued slow down in real estate rates in Mumbai, MHADA will continue to beat the trend and keep making low cost MHADA style housing for Mumbaikar. So get ready for the next lottery in the next few months.
